Demetris Zeinalipour's Short Biography

Demetrios Zeinalipour-Yazti is a Lecturer of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus. Previously, he was a lecturer of Computer Science at the Open University of Cyprus (07/2007-01/2009), a visiting lecturer of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus (08/2005-06/2007). His research interests include Data Management and Networking: Distributed Query Processing, Storage and Retrieval Methods for Sensor and Peer-to-Peer Systems, Mobile Data Management and Network Data Management. He holds a Ph.D. (2005) and M.Sc. (2003) in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of California - Riverside and a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Cyprus (2000). He has been a visiting researcher at the Network Intelligence Lab at Akamai Technologies Cambridge USA in 2004 and a Research Collaborator at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus in 2002. He is a referee for several scientific journals including IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, The VLDB Journal, IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, Elsevier's Information Sciences, Elsevier's Ad-Hoc Networks, Elsevier's Computer Communications. He has been both a referee and an external referee for several scientific conferences and workshops including ACM SIGMOD, ACM PODS, ACM SIGKDD, VLDB, WebKDD, MobiDE and DMSN. He is the Program Committee Co-Chair for the 11th International Conference on Mobile Data Management (IEEE MDM'10) and the 8th Intl. Workshop on Data Engineering for Wireless and Mobile Access's (ACM MobiDE'09) which was collocated with ACM SIGMOD'09. He has participated in projects funded by the US National Science Foundation: "Understanding Change in Spatiotemporal Data" (award 0220148), and "An Adaptive and Scalable Architecture for Dynamic Sensor Networks" (award #0330481), EU's CoreGRID Network of Excellence (#IST-2002-004265), EU’s Enabling Grids for E-sciencE (EGEE) (#IST-2003-508833) and by the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation: "An extensible Retrieval, Annotation and Caching Engine" (penek 23/2000).
