Abstract:
In today’s interconnected world nobody argues the importance of protecting information. All aspects of our life and activities directly make use of personal, business or other sensitive data that must be protected. Year by year the importance of Information Security and Information Assurance, grows. The study of the evolution of these two disciplines, from the early years of the first introduction of the computer, can be found useful both for the IT security practitioner and the researcher. A literature review of key articles and studies on the issue is presented in the study, with analysis and conclusions. Various standards and models are discussed and compared. National and international regulation in protecting information is also discussed. The study identifies future trends and problems that specialists and academia will be confronted with in the near future.
