The Department of Computer Science, University of Cyprus (UCY) has joined the Planet Lab Consortium. PlanetLab allows experimentation of new technologies on a planetwide scale and under realworld conditions. The PlanetLab nodes at UCY are managed by the High Performance Computing system Laboratory (HPCL). Members of UCY are eligible for a PlanetLab account. Users of PlanetLab are obliged to strictly adhere to the PlanetLab Acceptable Use Policy(AUP). It is highly recommended that all users join the announce AT planetlab.org and users AT planetlab.org mailing lists.

HPCL's experiments on PlanetLab cover the follwing areas:

1. Distributed information/metadata management.
2. Resource discovery in the context of P2P network.
