I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Cyprus and a member of the Research Laboratory for Foundations of Computing Systems and Theoretical Computer Science. I hold a Ph.D. (December 2003) and M.Sc. (May 2002) in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Connecticut and a B.Sc. (June 1998) in Mathematics from the University of Cyprus. Before joining the CS department of the University of Cyprus in 2004, I worked as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the University of Connecticut, USA (1998-2003).
My research interests are on the Theory and Practice of Fault-tolerant Distributed and Parallel Computing with a focus on Algorithms and Complexity. I have published more than 90 refereed articles in international journals and conference proceedings in my area of study and I have co-authored two books on Distributed Fault-tolerant Cooperative Computing; more details in Publications. I have served on Program Committees of top conferences in Distributed Computing as well as on the Steering Committees of the International Symposium on Distributed Computing-DISC (2008-2010, 2010-2012) and the ACM Symposium on the Principles of Distributed Computing-PODC (2014-2015). In 2015 I served as the General Chair of PODC 2015, in 2017 I served as the Track Program Committee co-Chair (Stabilizing Systems: Theory and Practice Track) of SSS 2017, and in 2018 I served as the General co-Chair and PC co-Chair of the workshop ApPLIED 2018. In 2019 I served as the General co-Chair of ApPLIED 2019 and in 2020 I served as the PC co-Chair of NETYS 2020. As of January 2018, I am on the Editorial Board of Information Processing Letters (subject area: Distributed Computing); more details in Service. Information on my involment in research projects can be found in Projects.
