Connected Vitality - the Personal Telepresence Network (CVN) - aims to link groups of senior citizens into a video communications network, enabling them to choose the activity as well as levels of social interaction according to their individual needs, abilities and lifestyle. CVN is going to be realized, based upon the latest, Video Coding standard, fast internet, and moderate prices for high speed hardware. The goal of the project is the creation and testing of a CVN network, geared to the needs of the elderly. This goal is reached by executing the following research roadmap; In the first year the project focus is to specify a user centered CVN network, to develop and test it in the second year and in the final third year to proof it at pilot sites in Spain, The Netherlands and Sweden. The research and SME partners were selected according to the requirements of the project and on their track record, experience and excellence in their respective fields of research and business achievements. Creating a complementary and coherent consortium of 9 partners from 6 European Member States and 1 associate country, Israel, which is able to perform the task.
