Year by year the importance of Information Security and Information Assurance, grows. The study of the evolution of these two disciplines, from the early years of the first introduction of the computer, can be found useful both for the IT security practitioner and the researcher. A literature review of key articles and studies on the issue is presented in the study, with analysis and conclusions. Various standards and models are discussed and compared.
