Overview

eMammoth is a three year research project that aims to improve the computing and storage infrastructure. In particular the general objectives of the proposed project are:

  • To upgrade the current LINC (former HPCL) cluster infrastructure (eScienceCY) and provide the tools to researchers to apply fast computations on large datasets.
  • To increase and modernize computational power in the LINC cluster with faster and less power consuming CPUs.
  • To enlarge LINC storage resources and enable the host of huge and complex datasets.
  • To enhance supported services with modern distributed infrastructure such as Cloud computers.

eMammoth is under the National Framework Programme for Research, Technological Development and Innovation 2009-2010 of the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation (RPF) and co-funded by the Republic of Cyprus and the European Regional Development Fund.

Workpackages

WP1: Project Management (Month 1 - Month 36): steers administratively the whole project, handling the coordination of partners, financial issues, communication with the Research Promotion Foundation, the timely release of high-quality deliverables, the resolution of disagreements and the management of risks.

WP2: Dissemination of Results (Month 1 - Month 36): concentrates on presenting project results in reputable scientific forums, the national scientific community and the Web.

WP3:  Implementation (Month 1 - Month 12): the work in this work-package is to implement the infrastructure and complete certification and testing procedures.

WP4: Application Deployment – Exploitation of Results (Month 3 - Month 36): the work in this work package is to identify the application case studies, design and implement the scenarios, execute and extract results.
