        <p><strong>Abstract:</strong><br/>
The AgentMT(TR) architecture allows for the smooth integration of three key levels of action control:
Level 1: Speedy but goal directed response to changing perceptions based on sensor readings
Level 2: Switching between level 1 control procedures when the agent's higher level beliefs, inferred using current perceptions and knowledge about its environment, change
Level 3: Reacting to new goals and significant events by selecting appropriate level 2 control procedures

We start by introducing and demonstrating the use of Nilsson's Teleo Reactive (TR) rule procedures for reactive (level 1) control. We demonstrate their use to control a simulated can collecting robotic agent.

We then show how a suite of TR procedures, accessing inferred beliefs as well as perceptual beliefs, can be used to control a multi-purpose robotic arm that can be given various goals involving the manipulation of blocks. A key feature of TR procedure control is that the agent can be helped or hindered in its task. If helped, the TR procedure will automatically skip actions, if hindered it will redo actions. This will be demonstrated by interacting with a simulated robot arm.

We conclude by describing our top level agent architecture, AgentMT(TR), which is a multi-threaded control architecture for a multi-tasking agent that can communicate and co-operate with humans and other agents. It uses Teleo-Reactive Plans, a generalisation of TR procedures. AgentMT(TR) is being used at Imperial College for both cognitive robotics, and as a general software agent architecture.
